Common questions with account and orderingqueries
Security. Once you go to the checkout you will automatically be forwarded to our secure server pages, our server is tested daily by McAfee SECURE to ensure we comply with the strict PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) regulations. This ensures your card details are processed in a safe and secure way; please note we do not store any of your card details on any server.
Logging into your account. If you are an existing customer on our current website (since October 2007) you can log into your account from the home page to amend any personal details or to view/print existing orders. If placing an order you can just login at the checkout. If you have forgotten your password you can ask for an automatic reminder, if you are still having difficulties (due to being at work etc) please email or call and we can reset you password.
New Customers. There is no need to pre-register if you don’t want to, just checkout as a new customer and an account will automatically be created. You then have a record of all orders plus tracking information for parcel.
Our website will then securely hold your name and address details for future use, but not any card details.
VAT Free Customers. Please select your country from the delivery/currency menu and proving you are having your goods delivered outside the EU you will get VAT free pricing. Please note the prices quoted in your our currency are as a guide you will be charged in UK£ and your credit card company will bill you in your home currency.
MAC Users & Security certificates. We do occasionally have some customers whose computer says the security certificate is wrong, this is caused by some settings on WebKit-based applications. The fix for this is as follows:
The installation of the Security Update 2006-007 apparently changes the way SSL certificates are validated by WebKit-based applications. If you ever changed the certificate security policies, you may be unable to connect to SSL sites with Safari. A notable example is https://mail.google.com/mail/.
The fix is to revert to the default certificate security policy by removing the file ~/Library -> Preferences -> com.apple.security.revocation.plist.
Payment Methods. At the checkout you have the option to pay by any of the current credit/debit cards or by PayPal. If paying by card please select your card type and fill in the details as required, please note that other than certain Maestro/Solo cards please do not enter any issue number.
Verified by VISA and MasterCard SecureCode. To improve your online security Merlin Cycles have adopted the latest secure online technology known as 3D Secure (Verified by Visa / MasterCard SecureCode) - the online equivalent to your PIN number. This means that you may, during the payment process, be temporarily transferred to your card issuer's website to enter this online password.
Merlin Cycles strongly recommend if you have not already, that you register/enroll your card in the scheme. It has the backing of all major banks and will help protect you from online fraud.
